About

Hello.  Let me introduce myself.  My name is Scott Shuppert, and I’m the author of the Cad Conversion Blog.  As the president of CadCam Services, located in Celina, Texas, I am an expert in Cad Conversion and large format engineering scanning.  Cad Cam Services has been in business for over 20 years and is one of only six (6) firms in the entire US that is qualified and certified for Department of Defense for  scanning and CAD conversion work.   We offer Scan to CAD that is truly Cad PerfectTM.  Presently we scan and convert about $ 2 million a year of engineering drawings into CAD.

At CadCam Services, we take our work very seriously.  My staff includes real P.E. engineers and architects.  All of our CAD people have real certifications from Autodesk, Revit, and Microstation all the way to Catia aircraft 3-D models.  We are experts in our field.  We are in the middle of our AS9100 certification.

We own and have personal experience with nearly any raster to vector (R2V) software software made.  Including Raster CAD from GTX, Hitachi Tracer, WiseImage from Consistent Software, VP Studio from Softelec, and even Draftsman and Scan2CAD.  Want an unbiased opinion on any of these software packages?  We actually make our living with these tools.  Ask us.  We’ll tell you how they work in actual practice.

One of our routine tasks is the conversion of files created in one CAD system into files for another CAD system.  For  instance, how do you convert AutoCAD drawings into Catia?  How about old Computer Vision files to AutoCAD?  What does it mean to fix the face of a model?

Every cad conversion project is different and presents its own set of problems and requirements.  This blog provides a forum for discussion about all aspects of cad conversion, and I invite my readers to submit their questions and comments and to check back regularly to read about our latest topic of discussion.
